EXTENDED THROUGH SEPTEMBER 15, 2013
Cavalia’s Odysseo delights all the senses! No IMAX 3D production can compare with being in such close proximity to these extraordinary animals! Absolute joy – you feel the horses’ freedom and leave with an experience you’ll never forget!
For audiences who have become all too accustomed to Hollywood’s go-to CGI in movies it gets harder to thrill – but that all changes when you step into Cavalia’s 125 foot high tent! We are carried away to another place and time!
The opening scene of Odysseo is one of the most magical moments this experienced theatre goer has ever seen. In an instant this beautifully lit stage is filled with a stunning heard of horses entering with all the grace and ease of a corps de ballet! Not just for fans of all things equine — Odysseo mesmerizes a myriad of demographics. The sheer joy on the faces of those in the seats tells the story of how much we long to be connected to these sentient beings, our partners through civilization. It is a truly visceral experience.
Normand Delatourelle, one of the founders of Cirque du Soleil and the creator of Cavalia’s Odysseo,” and the original Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse (which still tours the globe) has evoked his signature audience response by taking our breathe away!
The horses are the crown jewel in this production, but there is so much more. The world’s largest touring big top tent elicits excitement with it’s height of 10 stories, a welcomed addition to the Boston skyline! The set, by Guillaume Lord, gives the TD Bank Garden‘s rink a run for it’s money in size. The rear screen is a panorama of scenes by Geodezik taking us on journeys around the world, it is the height of 3 IMAX screens. Geodezik’s has created video concepts for Justin Timberlake, Cher, Pink, Bette Midler, Cirque du Soleil, Tina Turner, Taylor Swift, Usher, Katy Perry and Grubb.
Director Wayne Fowkes a former resident director for Andrew Lloyd Webber does an exceptional job with his 47 artists including acrobats, aerialists, riders, dancers and musicians in the show. They represent 13 countries including The United States, Canada, Brazil, France, Guinea (Africa), Poland, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, New Zealand, Japan, Germany and Belgium. Our personal favorite was the rider at the close of show who in a silhouette dressage captivates the audience – first in a solemn silence ending in an uproarious applause – bringing the packed house to it’s feet!
Do yourself a favor and don’t miss this show!
