HBO pulled the Mike White series Enlightened from it’s line up.
Execs decided that two seasons was enough for the low-rated comedy-drama. ISH happened to like the strange world of Enlightened. Mike White created and wrote the series, starring Laura Dern as a woman trying to get her life together after a break up. The first season earned a Golden Globe with Dern winning the best comedy actress award for her performance and the show received a nomination for best comedy series.
“It was a very difficult decision,” said HBO in a statement. “We’re proud of the show and we look forward to working with Mike White and Laura Dern in the future.”
Laura Dern’s mom Diane Ladd is out of a job too, she played Dern’s mom on the show!
