It’s Inaugural weekend in Washington D.C. and the partying has started. One of the first parties was a concert The Kids’ Inaugural: Our Children, Our Future attended by first kids Sasha and Malia.
America’s Got Talent‘s Nick Cannon emceed the event with co-host actor and war hero J.R. Martinez. It was a family friendly crowd at the convention center.
Michelle Obama accompanied her daughters along with Jill Biden and her grandkids for a quick wave before the concert began. Then the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance kicked off the entertainment.
The crowd was more than excited to hear Usher perform. Some of the other acts were the dance group iLuminate from America’s Got Talent, the Asian quintet Far East Movement and one of Obama’s favorites, the ensemble Soul Children of Chicago.
Video messages from big names were sprinkled throughout the show, with Ryan Seacrest, Kerry Washington, David Letterman and Ellen DeGeneres showing their gratitude for military kids as well as Jimmy Fallon, who introduced himself as Harry Styles from One Direction.
Michelle Obama gave a heartfelt speech before Katy Perry performed . Being a military kid, “means always thinking about things that are so much bigger than yourself. It means growing up so much faster…by supporting your families you all are helping us protect our country and keep all of us safe.”
